Evening Seminar 9 February 2019
We hold our evening seminars once a month on a Saturday evening from 5.00pm until 6.45pm.
Come and take the opportunity go gain some excellent CPD as well as meet and socialise with colleagues. We have invited speakers to come and share their ideas and enthusiasm about counselling, therapy and transactional analysis. With a broad range of topics coming up, there is sure to be something to interest you.
We open the doors open from 5.00pm – the seminar starts at 5.15pm for an hour and a half. When you arrive we will offer you hot and cold drinks and snacks. There is a small charge of £10 per ticket for the seminar.
What is the Seminar About?
This seminar aims to give a brief introduction to the understanding of addiction and addictive behaviours. It does this by covering the following areas:
- What makes it an addiction?
- Types of addiction
- Why do people become addicted?
- How to help clients assess their motivation to change
- How to help clients with triggers, behaviours and cravings
- Preparing relapse prevention plans
- Life Style Modification
This training is designed to be an overview to addiction. It will give a taste of some of the issues involved, but it is not designed to give participants comprehensive training in addiction.
Presenter: Gemma Ridge
Gemma Ridge is a BACP Accredited Integrative Psychotherapist and Supervisor. She is a Director of HealthWise Leeds and works at PAC-UK, an adoption charity which supports people affected by adoption. Gemma previously worked for the Probation Service for 12 years before re-training as a therapist. She delivered accredited Home Office programmes to people who had drug and alcohol issues. She has designed a rehabilitation programme for women within the Criminal Justice. Gemma also worked with families who had children removed due to their addictions.
